China and Saudi Arabia Strike Agreements on Curriculum Development and Scholarships

RIYADH — In order to share knowledge on advanced curriculum, scholarships, and sending Saudi students to study in China, the Saudi Ministry of Education and the Chinese Ministry of Education inked two agreements. The first agreement aimed to increase the likelihood that Saudi students would be accepted into specialised courses that are in high demand in the local labour market, expand scholarship programs, and secure seats for Saudi students at prestigious Chinese institutions.

The Ministry of Education and the Chinese Ministry of Education’s Centre for Languages and International Cooperation signed another agreement to have Saudi and Chinese experts create Chinese language curricula and to release a comprehensive curriculum for teaching Chinese in public schools beginning with the current school year. China and Saudi Arabia have had a close relationship for many years. Significant progress has been made in these partnerships on all fronts, especially in the commercial and economic domains.

Both nations belong to a number of global economic blocs and organisations, including the G20 and the World Trade Organisation. Along with China, Saudi Arabia was a founding member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), which works to advance infrastructure connectivity and economic growth throughout Asia and beyond. As a result of both nations’ authorities’ enthusiasm in teaching Arabic and Chinese and establishing linguistic and academic contact channels, Saudi Arabia and China’s educational cooperation is expanding at an impressive rate.
