Riyadh: According to the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday, Saudi officials detained 20,688 individuals in a single week for violating laws pertaining to residency, employment, and border security. 12,372 persons were arrested for breaking residence restrictions, 4,750 were detained for attempting to enter the country illegally, and 3,566 were detained for labor-related reasons.
According to the study, Ethiopians made up 61% of the 1,264 individuals detained for attempting to enter the Kingdom unlawfully, followed by Yemenis (36%), and persons of other countries (3%). According to the SPA, another 93 individuals were apprehended while attempting to enter nearby nations, while 27 were detained for their role in harbouring and transporting violators.
Anyone caught supporting unlawful entry into the Kingdom, including by offering transportation and lodging, faces a potential 15-year jail sentence, a fine of up to SR1 million ($260,000), and the seizure of their property and cars, according to the Ministry of Interior.
In Makkah and Riyadh, you can report suspected infractions by calling the toll-free number 911; in other parts of the Kingdom, you can call 999 or 996. A total of 12,372 persons were detained for breaking residence regulations, while 4,750 were detained for attempting to enter the country illegally.
