Deadly Tanker Strike Sparks Sharp Saudi Condemnation of Iran

RIYADH: Two Filipino crew members were murdered in an Iranian attack on a Saudi tanker, which Saudi Arabia denounced on Wednesday. The Sidra was hit late on Monday while it was traversing the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran’s attacks on Middle Eastern nations in retaliation for US strikes on Iran were also denounced by the Foreign Ministry.

The ministry stated, “The Kingdom calls on all parties to calm down, stop escalation, respect international law, and return to negotiations and peaceful solutions. US attacks against Iranian air defences, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities, and communications locations caused the violence to resurface overnight on Tuesday. A four-year-old at a Sirik wedding was among the at least 12 fatalities.

Iran retaliated by attacking US facilities in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates. It claimed that its goal was to expel US personnel from the extensive network of military installations they had controlled for many years throughout the Middle East.

Iran’s military command declared, “American evil in the region will be met with heavier, more widespread, and devastating responses, and any country that cooperates with the aggressive American army must accept its dangerous consequences.
