According to data published by the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat), GCC nations have surpassed global averages in a number of important Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including health, education, and access to basic services. The results point to areas that need more policy attention while also highlighting the region’s achievements in raising living standards, increasing access to necessary services, and fortifying social structures.
With the help of sophisticated social protection systems that guarantee inclusivity across all societal groups and provide living standards beyond international poverty levels, GCC countries have almost completely abolished extreme poverty.
Additionally, physician density increased to 33.6 per 10,000 people, much higher than the global average of 18.7, and coverage of critical immunizations reached 100%, compared to 84% worldwide. Strong performance is also evident in education metrics across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), reflecting ongoing investments in human capital. Pre-primary school enrollment increased to 99.8% globally from 74.4%, and literacy rates reached 99.2% globally from 88%. As a strategic investment in human capital, all schools offer basic services in addition to complete teacher qualification.
