RIYADH: According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Imam Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Royal Reserve Development Authority has banned grazing inside the reserve and only permits it for authorized local community members in specific places. In order to stop soil erosion, plant diversity loss, and land degradation, the authority underlined its continuous efforts to control sustainable grazing and increase vegetation cover.
The SPA further stated that in order to preserve the biodiversity and vegetation of the reserve, people who disregard these rules will face consequences. The authority advised anyone looking for information about grazing to check out its official channels and website.
To encourage environmental sustainability, social development, and economic prosperity, the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification recently established the Agroforestry Action Plan Development Project. In order to guarantee sustainable forest management, the project focuses on evaluating the situation of agroforestry today, implementing international best practices, and promoting investment.
Through the planting of 60 million trees, or the rehabilitation of 300,000 hectares by 2030, the center is also attempting to create sustainable vegetation cover in forests. It seeks to maintain and develop forests, control grazing in forested regions, and carry out a national strategy for sustainable forest management.
