RIYADH — Turki Al Alshiekh, the chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA), announced on Sunday that he met with Hans Zimmer, a legendary composer and music icon, to talk about a number of ambitious initiatives that will enhance the Kingdom’s cultural environment.
On social media, Al Alshiekh posted the meeting’s specifics while highlighting the importance of the partnership. The possibility of rearranging the Saudi national song with a range of musical instruments was one of the initiatives that was examined; this may give the national tune a new and creative interpretation. Another suggestion is that Zimmer write an original composition called Arabia that draws inspiration from Saudi Arabia’s history and culture.
The composition would be a musical homage to the Kingdom and might have a worldwide impact as a representation of the country’s creative aspirations. The notion of hosting a large-scale musical event with a novel theme during Riyadh Season in the upcoming years was also discussed during the discussion. Zimmer was also briefed by Al Alshiekh on the progress of the forthcoming historical drama The Battle of Yarmouk, which tells the tale of Khalid ibn Al-Walid. One topic of discussion was Zimmer’s potential involvement in the movie’s soundtrack, which could raise the production to a global level.
