RIYADH: The US-mediated ceasefire deal between India and Pakistan was hailed by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday. The ministry expressed optimism that the move will restore the region’s security and stability.
In a formal statement reported by the Saudi Press Agency, the Kingdom reaffirmed its support for peaceful conflict resolution and praised all sides for exercising caution and self-control in the face of elevated tensions.
Saudi Arabia underlined how crucial it is to uphold the values of good neighbourliness in a way that fosters harmony and development for both nations and their citizens. After a phase of intensified fighting, Islamabad and New Delhi verified the truce, which was announced on Saturday.
President Donald Trump said that Washington had been instrumental in bringing the nuclear-armed neighbours to a deal, and the de-escalation came after US-mediated negotiations late Friday night. According to the Jordan News Agency, the ceasefire deal was also praised by Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which called it a significant step in promoting regional stability.
