JEDDAH: The 121st session of the Executive Council of the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organisation convened in Jeddah on Tuesday, attended by ministers and other representatives from 22 Arab countries. The organization’s General Conference will take place on Friday, following the conclusion of the two-day session on Wednesday.
The participants will discuss significant issues, initiatives, and proposals pertaining to information sharing, scientific advancement, and innovation within the context of the organization’s work during the meetings, which are being hosted by the Saudi National Committee for Education, Culture, and Science, according to a report from the Saudi Press Agency.
The chairperson of ALESCO’s Executive Council, Hani Al-Moqbel, voiced her profound concern during the opening session regarding the ongoing crisis that the Palestinian people face as a result of the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. He mentioned that ALECSO participated in the UNESCO Culture and Education Programme as an illustration of its proactive involvement in these efforts.
The director general of ALECSO, Mohammed Walad Amar, emphasised the organization’s dedication to advancing Arab cultural heritage internationally. According to this vision, he said, ALECSO has collaborated with a number of nations to get more of their cultural assets recognised on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage List.
