Quantum Challenge Launches to Train Future Leaders in AI and Computing

RIYADH — The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with IBM and the Saudi Quantum Technology Association, has announced the launch of the Quantum Challenge, an educational competition designed to promote awareness and skills in quantum computing. The event will run from Nov. 9 to 13, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.

The initiative aims to equip Saudi students and graduates with hands-on experience in quantum programming using Qiskit, IBM’s open-source quantum computing framework. Participants will work on advanced problem-solving methods such as Quantum Optimization, QUBO, VQE, and QAOA, applying them to real-world challenges involving artificial intelligence and complex data analysis.

Combining interactive learning with practical exercises, the competition seeks to nurture a new generation of quantum innovators who will contribute to the Kingdom’s technological and digital transformation in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

The ministry encouraged university students and graduates specializing in computer science, engineering, and emerging technologies to register for the challenge by Nov. 1 through the Future Skills platform. The initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s growing investment in advanced technologies and aligns with its national strategy to develop a knowledge-based digital economy.
