20-Year-Old Palestinian Killed by Israeli Forces Near Hebron

Israeli forces shot and killed Mohammad Bassam Tayaha Sha’our, a 20-year-old Palestinian, at the Meitar crossing near the town of Adh Dhahiriya, south of Hebron, on Sunday evening. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Sha’our died instantly at the scene after being hit by Israeli gunfire at the checkpoint, and his body was transferred by Red Crescent paramedics to Dura Government Hospital.

Security sources reported that Israeli forces opened fire during a routine patrol at the crossing, resulting in Sha’our’s immediate death. This incident comes amid escalating violence in the West Bank, where over 300 Palestinians including 44 minors have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers since January according to figures from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

The killing highlights ongoing tensions and raises concerns among humanitarian organizations about the growing number of fatalities in the region as violence continues to the surge near by Hebron and throughout the occupied West Bank.

The fatal shooting of Mohammad Bassam Tayaha Sha’our comes as the security measures intensify at crossings south of Hebron with recent reports of increased military checkpoints creating additional tension in the area.
