RIYADH: Khaled Al-Abdulkader, CEO of Saudi Arabia’s National Centre for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification, met with Moon Young-hak, chairman of Saudi-Korean Society for Economic and Trade Promotion, in Riyadh.
According to the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday, the conference focused on prospective cooperation with Korean firms and analysing sophisticated greywater treatment and separation technologies for national parks. Senior centre officials attended the discussion, which focused on utilising Korean experience in developing small-scale and mobile wastewater treatment devices.
With more than 400 national parks in Saudi Arabia, the centre has developed strategic plans to optimise water use, particularly as tourist numbers are likely to increase in the future years. According to the SPA, greywater separation and treatment technologies will allow water reuse in afforestation projects and the development of artificial lakes.
The Korean approach employs advanced information technology-based control systems to increase the quality and efficiency of treated water output dramatically.According to the SPA, the approach allows for doubling treatment capacity using existing infrastructure for only 30% of the cost of developing new facilities in just eight months.
