Since Saudi Arabia was still in its infancy as a leader in the industry, many were skeptical about the General Entertainment Authority when it was established in 2016.
Thanks to large investments and strategic initiatives implemented as part of Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia is currently leading the Middle East and North Africa in terms of leisure and entertainment.
By the end of the decade, the Kingdom hopes to create over 100,000 employment and invest $64 billion in the sector through this program.
Saudi Arabia is a prime example of how well-executed regulatory regulations can turn a fledgling business into a pillar of economic growth and cultural development, as seen by the country’s expansive entertainment complexes in major cities and its thriving movie sector.
“Saudi Arabia’s entertainment landscape has flourished rapidly, driven by the launch of Vision 2030,” stated Devanshu Mathur, a managing director and partner of Boston Consulting Group.
“The reopening of theaters throughout the Kingdom in 2018 marked the beginning of this transformation, which was then followed in 2019 by the creation of a number of entertainment options like Saudi Seasons and Boulevard Riyadh City, as well as the introduction of yearly live music events like MDL Beast.”
