RIYADH: Heavy rain is expected to fall on Saudi Arabia during the weekend, especially in Riyadh and its surroundings, from Friday to Tuesday of next week. Furthermore, as the National Center for Meteorology stated on Tuesday, “May forecasts indicate a chance of higher than average rainfall.”
The NCM further stated that more rain is expected this week in the Eastern Province, Makkah, Jazan, Aseer, Al-Baha, and various areas of Riyadh. There will be heavy showers in Makkah, adjacent areas, and medium rainfall in Riyadh, Wadi Al-Dawasir, and Al-Sulayil.
Medium to heavy rainfall is forecast in southern regions such as Jizan, Najran, Asir, and Al-Baha; Jizan and Asir are expected to experience torrential rain and high gusts. The General Directorate of Civil Defense in Saudi Arabia has released safety guidelines and weather advisories.
Residents received the following information from the NCM: “The Riyadh region (Riyadh, Diriyah, Muzahmiyah, Al-Harij, Al-Kharj, Hotat Bani Tamim, Al-Majmaah, Thadiq, Marat, Al-Ghat, Al-Zulfi, Shaqraa, and Huraymila) is expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall.
Everyone is urged to exercise caution and follow the Civil Defense’s recommendations. May God pour out benefits and goodness so that they reach every corner of the nation. Our objectives are your collaboration and safety.
The NCM’s warning of strong winds that could result in sandstorms has complicated the issue. As a result, the Civil Defense has issued an advisory to the public, advising them to follow all safety precautions, stay indoors during severe weather, and stay away from valleys and flooded regions.
