On Thursday, Spanish Defence Minister Margarita Robles welcomed Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman to the Spanish Ministry of Defence headquarters in Madrid.
The ministers discussed areas of collaboration between the two defence ministries and the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Spain during their formal meeting. In the presence of the two ministries’ delegations, the ministers talked about how to further deepen and strengthen defence cooperation while taking into account the shared interests of the two friendly nations.
The two sides also talked about how to promote peace and security both locally and globally.
The two nations’ national anthems were performed and the guard of honour was examined at an earlier formal reception event in honour of Prince Khalid bin Salman.
Princess Haifa bint Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf Al-Muqrin, the Saudi ambassador to Spain; Gen. Fayyad Al-Ruwaili, the chief of staff; Dr. Khalid Al-Bayari, the assistant minister of defence for executive affairs; Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif, the director general of the Office of the Minister of Defence; Ibrahim Al-Suwaid, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence for Procurement and Armament; and Brig. Gen. Ali Al-Hedyan, the military attaché at the Saudi embassy in Madrid.
