RIYADH: Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, the secretary-general of the Muslim World League, met at Rome’s Presidential Palace.
The role of religion in promoting international peace and strengthening human friendships was explored throughout the summit. According to a statement, al-Issa stated that Islam advocated for peaceful coexistence, respect for human dignity, and understanding between nations and people.
He expressed his gratitude to the president for his stance on Palestinian rights, particularly his endorsement of the two-state solution. The Italian leader praised Islam’s ideals in this area and expressed gratitude for the MWL’s efforts to advance religious and cultural harmony. According to Mattarella, extremism, regardless of its origin, simply represents itself and not the cultural norms that faiths advocate.
