US and Ukraine Call Miami Talks Productive, But No Final Deal Reached

US and Ukraine Call Miami Talks Productive, But No Final Deal Reached

MIAMI, Florida: In a joint statement released on Sunday, the US and Ukrainian envoys praised the “productive and constructive” discussions that took place in Miami, but they made no mention of any apparent progress in efforts to put an end to the conflict with Russia.

Over the past few days, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, has convened a series of separate sessions in southern Florida with top officials from both Russia and Ukraine as well as Kyiv’s European supporters.

Following Washington’s presentation of a 28-point proposal last month that was widely perceived as mirroring the demands of the Kremlin, the sessions were the most recent in a weeks-long diplomatic blitz over plans to end the war. Although its contents have not been made public, it has subsequently been revised in light of Ukraine’s and Europe’s involvement.

In separate statements on X, Witkoff and Rustem Umerov, Ukraine’s lead negotiator, stated, “The Ukrainian delegation held a series of productive and constructive meetings with American and European partners over the last three days in Florida.”

A “20-point plan, a ‘Multilateral security guarantee framework,’ a ‘US Security guarantee framework for Ukraine,’ and an ‘ economic & prosperity plan’ are the four key documents that were the subject of a bilateral US-Ukraine summit.
