Israel Targets Claimed Hezbollah Drone Factories" in Beirut Suburbs

BEIRUT — On Thursday, as massive smoke plumes rose over the Lebanese capital, the Israeli military launched attacks on Hezbollah “drone factories” in southern Lebanon and the suburbs of Beirut.

The Israeli strike was the largest to occur in Lebanon since Israel and the Lebanese terrorist organisation Hezbollah reached a truce deal mediated by the United States in November. It was hitting “terror targets of the Hezbollah Aerial Unit (127)” in the southern Beirut district of Dahieh, according to the Israel Defence Forces.

Israeli drone strikes were reported by NNA news, which stated that the city’s southern suburbs had been the target of a “series of warning strikes, numbering more than seven.

Early on Friday morning, the spokesperson for Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health informed CNN that there were no preliminary reports of strike-related injuries. The Israeli military had earlier issued a warning about an impending operation in the region that was supposed to target Hezbollah-controlled “underground UAV production facilities.”

In a “urgent warning” posted on social media earlier Thursday, IDF Arabic Spokesperson Avichay Adraee asked people in the “Al-Hadath, Haret Hreik, and Burj Al-Barajneh” neighbourhoods to leave buildings marked in red on the attached maps and nearby structures right away and to stay at least “300 meters away” for their safety.
