SEOUL: Kim Yo Jong, Kim Jong Un’s powerful sister, dismissed the US FBI announcement that North Korea stole nearly $6 billion in crypto assets from Binance. She claimed she sees “no need” for talks with Washington.
Kim Yo Jong, a director of the North Korean ruling party, said in a statement carried by the official KCNA on Wednesday that the FBI’s charge reflected “US hostile policy” toward North Korea. She has declined to speak to the US amid rumours of a possible summit between President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un later this month.
She also criticized other US operations, including joint military maneuvers between South Korea and the US, its demand for denuclearisation and a report by the US State Department on global human-trafficking issues that includes North Korea.
The abandonment by the US of its hostile policy toward the DPRK is a major precondition and the key to resolving all problems,” she stated, using the official name of North Korea. “We have no need to sit face to face with such unreliable and hostile persons who refuse to give up their policy of confrontation, that is our clear stand.
