DUBAI: The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, mediated by the United States, was greeted Tuesday morning by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry commended US President Donald Trump for his efforts in negotiating the arrangement and reiterated its position that it wants a de-escalation following 11 days of fighting in a statement on X. “The Kingdom hopes that all parties will commit to calming down and not using force or threatening to use force in the upcoming period,” the statement added.
“This agreement will help restore security and stability to the region and spare it the risks of continued escalation,” Saudi Arabia hopes. The Kingdom wishes to restate its “strong stance in favouring the adoption of dialogue and diplomatic means as a means to resolve regional disputes and conflicts,” according to the ministry. “The principle of respecting the sovereignty of states and consolidating security, stability, prosperity, and progress in the region and the world” need to serve as the foundation for this. Kingdom expresses gratitude to US President Donald Trump for facilitating the agreement.
