KSrelief Agreement to Aid in the Fight Against Wildfires in Latakia, Syria

KASSAB: To aid in the battle against forest fires in the Syrian town of Kassab, which is situated in the Latakia governorate, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has inked a cooperation agreement to supply essential firefighting supplies, apparatus, and equipment.

The Saudi Press Agency said on Wednesday that the deal, which was signed on Tuesday in front of Syria’s Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed Al-Saleh, represents an expanding collaboration between the two countries with the goal of strengthening Syria’s emergency response capabilities. By providing technical and logistical assistance to local firefighting crews, the program aims to increase the efficiency and speed of wildfire response operations in Latakia.

The deal is viewed as a timely intervention to reduce the likelihood of massive forest fires in the area as summer temperatures rise. Ahmed Qazziz, Syria’s Deputy Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, called the deal strategically important, especially during the summer months when risks are at their highest.

He emphasized its emphasis on equipping field teams, training staff, and enhancing civil defense readiness—all of which are essential components in protecting communities from natural catastrophes. The deal is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader humanitarian effort to assist people affected by natural disasters and support friendly nations worldwide.
