The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority (ADCDA) has established a series of protocols to be followed in the case of a kid drowning on public beaches or in a private swimming pool. The ADCDA stressed its role in educating the public about the significance of following right procedures to minimize drowning incidents, as well as its commitment to creating a safe culture, particularly for children.
The right course of action in situations of drowning on public beaches with lifeguard services is to remain calm, contact 999, monitor the situation even after the drowning person reaches the lifebuoy, and keep a careful check on the individual until professional assistance comes, according to the statement. In situations of drowning on public beaches without lifeguards, do not panic and contact 999, it urged, emphasizing that untrained individuals should not enter or leap into the ocean to rescue drowning victims.
It is better to utilize lifebuoys, if available, and to toss them or anything else that can assist the drowning person float, while monitoring the situation until the drowning person reaches the floating device, it stated. It is also recommended to minimize needless risks, seek specialist assistance promptly, and administer first aid, it stated. The ADCDA stated that if someone drowns in a home pool, they should not panic and call 999, emphasizing the importance of knowing and practicing first aid procedures for household hazards, particularly cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
