1.2 Million Umrah Pilgrims are Welcomed in Saudi Arabia

JEDDAH: Since the start of the Umrah season, over 1.2 million pilgrims have come to the Kingdom, according to the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. The increased international interest and the Kingdom’s improved service capabilities for religious tourists are reflected in the 109 nations from which the devout have journeyed. According to ministry data, the number of people visiting Saudi Arabia this year with an Umrah visa has significantly increased by 30% over the same period last year. In order to strengthen the Kingdom’s ability to handle the surge of pilgrims, more than 4,200 collaboration agreements between domestic Umrah service providers and foreign agents were signed, and visa issuances also increased by 27%.

The government’s Nusuk platform was used to process digital visas at the start of the Umrah season. As part of Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s overall modernization plan, the plan is the most recent development in Saudi Arabia’s attempts to simplify religious tourism. Through the Nusuk mobile application, which serves as a single digital portal for pilgrim services, pilgrims have been able to get Umrah permits directly. Along with other digital technologies aimed at enhancing the pilgrimage experience overall, the website provides expedited booking and permission processing.
