Saudi Crown Prince to Address UN Conference on Two-State Solution Virtually

Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman will be taking part in the upcoming United Nations high-level conference on the Palestinian issue and the two-state solution, scheduled for September 22 in New York. His message—whether delivered live virtually or through a pre-recorded speech—will serve as an important voice at a gathering that hopes to bring fresh momentum to one of the world’s longest-standing conflicts.

The UN General Assembly gave its unanimous approval for his participation after Saudi Arabia presented an oral draft resolution. The meeting, which Saudi Arabia will co-chair alongside France, is taking place on the sidelines of this year’s UN General Assembly high-level week.

The conference aims to create a platform where heads of state and government can openly discuss the two-state solution and rally much-needed international support for Palestine. It has already drawn strong backing from UN member states and observer delegations. Many countries described the Saudi-French initiative as a clear commitment to keeping the Palestinian cause at the center of the international agenda, reaffirming that recognizing a Palestinian state remains the only way forward toward peace.

Participants emphasized that tangible actions must follow words. They rejected any plans of annexation and forced displacement and urged stronger support for Palestinian institutions as well as UNRWA, the UN agency that provides aid and relief.
