RIYADH: In the most recent indication that economic activity remained robust, Saudi Arabia’s Operating Revenue Index increased 11.4 percent year over year in May, propelled by robust advances in mining and manufacturing.
According to data made public by the General Authority for Statistics, mining and quarrying operations saw the most yearly growth at 38.7 percent, followed by manufacturing at 9.6 percent. Construction activities grew by 2.5 percent, wholesale and retail trade, including auto repair, by 3.6 percent, and financial and insurance activities by 12.9 percent.
As the Kingdom pursues its Vision 2030 economic diversification program, these numbers highlight the ongoing momentum in Saudi Arabia’s corporate sector. The Kingdom’s real gross domestic product increased by 3% year over year in the first quarter of 2026, according to GASTAT in June. This development was fueled by 2.9% growth in both oil and non-oil activities, highlighting the recovery’s broad scope.
According to GASTAT’s most recent report, the Operating Revenues Index increased by 2.9 percent on a monthly basis, affected by a 0.6 percent increase in manufacturing activities, a 10.2 percent increase in mining and quarrying activities, a 1.3 percent increase in wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles activities, and increases of 1.1 percent and 1.9 percent in financial and insurance activities and information and communication activities, respectively.
