It was reported on Tuesday by a British maritime agency that a cargo vessel was hit by a “unknown projectile” in the Strait of Hormuz, which is located off the coast of Oman. However, the agency did not provide any specifics of the damage or injuries that occurred.
According to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), in addition to the fact that the event took place 20 nautical miles (37 kilometers) northeast of Al Khasab, Oman, the vessel, which has not been named, reported that it had been “hit by an unknown projectile” and that authorities were conducting an investigation.
In the midst of the sequence of occurrences, President Donald Trump of the United States stated that negotiations with Iran were currently taking place and that this was Tehran’s “last chance” to bring an end to the crisis. In the meantime, Iran has denied that it is currently engaged in discussions with the United States and has instead stated that it is in the process of discussing with Oman over a temporary route for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
