RAMALLAH: A raid on the town of Sinjil coincided with Israeli settlers’ ongoing expansion efforts in a number of places north of Ramallah and the Al-Bireh Governorate. According to local sources, as part of continuous colonial expansion plans, Israeli bulldozers completed land leveling and construction work at the illegal settlement of Eli, which was constructed on Palestinian-owned property close to the towns of Turmus Ayya and Al-Lubban Al-Sharqiya, south of Nablus.
In an attempt to tighten control over additional Palestinian territory, colonists sent heavy machinery and equipment to the pastoral outpost they had created on the plains of Turmus Ayya, north of Ramallah. Under the cover of Israeli occupation troops, settlers stormed the town of Sinjil, north of Ramallah, and explored its periphery, inciting tensions among the locals.
On Monday, Palestinian homes in Khirbet Al-Kharaba, southeast of the village of As-Samu, south of Hebron, were attacked by armed Israeli settlers under Israeli military protection. According to As-Samu Mayor Muhammad Abu Aqil, heavily armed settlers trashed local property, grazed their animals on privately owned Palestinian land, and attacked the Daghameen family’s residences in Khirbet Al-Kharaba, which is southeast of As-Samu.
Osama Makhameh, a southern Hebron anti-settlement activist, reported that Israeli troops raided Khallat Al-Homs, south of Yatta, and gave Khalil Azmi Bahis a stop-work order for his one-story home, which is 270 square meters in size and accommodates 14 people.
