RIYADH: To enhance historical and cultural experiences in foreign Umrah packages, more than 70 Umrah and travel organizations, representing more than 3 million pilgrims globally, visited Makkah. The familiarization tour was recently held by the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites in collaboration with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, according to a Tuesday article from the Saudi Press Agency.
The goal was to help travel agencies, Umrah firms, and foreign agents create more diversified programs that combine Umrah with carefully planned excursions to Makkah’s historical and cultural landmarks. The program offered participants a firsthand look at services, events, and material that might be added to their itineraries through visits to four locations and four carefully chosen experiences.
In addition to introducing participants to a number of Makkah landmarks and locations, the tour also covered the Discover Makkah” platform and how it helps with travel planning. The visit aimed to highlight ways to improve pilgrims’ experiences by expanding options beyond the fundamental rites, according to the SPA.
According to a source, the objective is to assist businesses in creating programs that combine Umrah with historical and cultural research, with alternatives catered to various interests. Additionally, the tour enabled direct interaction among participating businesses, destination operators, and experience providers, allowing them to explore potential collaborations.
