ALKHOBAR: Saudi Arabia urged for the acceleration of recovery work in Gaza and unrestricted humanitarian access ahead of winter, while encouraging complete implementation of the next phase of the ceasefire and reconstruction plan.
The Kingdom was represented at a high-level roundtable in New York City on Wednesday by Dr. Manal Radwan, adviser and special envoy to the foreign minister for negotiations and peace initiatives, to consolidate peace and advance early recovery in Gaza. The event took place on the fringes of the UN General Assembly.
The summit, entitled “From Sharm El-Sheikh to Phase II: Consolidating Peace and Early Recovery”, was sponsored by Egypt and co-chaired by France, Germany and the European Commission. The meeting was also attended by UN organisations and the Board of Peace and also representatives of regional and international partners.
Radwan addressed the participants, urging all parties to respect the results of the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit, to complete the first phase of the ceasefire and to continue implementing the second phase of President Donald Trump’s Comprehensive Plan in conjunction with UN Security Council Resolution 2803, with Palestinian ownership of the process.
