On Wednesday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) warned Indian nationals against joining the Russian armed forces, warning them about the risks and advised them not to be duped by unverified job offers abroad.
The caution came as there were ongoing reports of Indian people being recruited into the Russian military forces. The MEA has frequently emphasised the risks and hazards of such acts in the previous two years. The government has repeatedly highlighted the risks and dangers inherent in this course of action over the last two years, and it has advised Indian citizens to be cautious when pursuing job opportunities abroad and not be enticed by any job offers from unverified individuals,” the ministry stated.
According to the ministry, there have been occasions where individuals approached Indian officials voluntarily to give up their Indian citizenship, receive a Russian passport, and be recruited into the Russian armed forces. According to the MEA, non-public institutions, including volunteer groups, are recruiting foreign nationals into the Russian armed forces.
