Saudi Arabia Showcases its Health Improvements at Local World Health Organization Meeting in Cairo

CAIRO: Saudi Arabia advocated for more investment in preventive, public health and primary care and more regional collaboration on health concerns during a three-day World Health Organization meeting that ended Thursday in Cairo.

Health ministers and senior officials from the 22 countries and territories in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region attending the 73rd session of the regional committee reviewed measures to strengthen health systems amid prolonged emergencies and dwindling resources.

Nouf Alnumair, deputy minister for international cooperation at the Ministry of Health, headed the Kingdom’s team. She laid out health care changes as part of the Vision 2030 blueprint for national development, including initiatives to better the country’s model of care and increase the quality and efficiency of services.

She called for stronger regional collaboration to address shared health challenges, highlighting the need to share expertise and strengthen partnerships with the WHO and its member states to improve health outcomes across the region. The Saudi delegation also highlighted the Kingdom’s contributions to regional and international health initiatives and its experience in mass-gathering medicine, particularly in treating Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.
