KYIV — At least 13 people were killed when a Russian drone attacked a crowded platform at a railway station in the central-eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro, police said Thursday. According to state rail corporation Ukrzaliznytsia, a jet-powered drone struck a train station as it was about to depart for Zaporizhzhia. Thirteen individuals died in a Russian attack on Dnipro. “At least five more people were injured,” Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Oleksandr Ganzha stated via Telegram.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the strike “horrific,” claiming Russian forces struck a platform “where a regular commuter train and a regular passenger train were standing. At least 10 were wounded,” Ukraine’s national police said.

Ukrainian Railroads head Oleksandr Pertsovsky said a heightened threat notice was sent before the incident. Unfortunately, there were still a huge number of people using the platform,” he remarked on Facebook.

Russia also hit Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, damaging an educational institution, Mayor Ihor Terekhov claimed on Telegram. Ukrainian authorities also said Russian forces launched strikes overnight in several regions, including one in the Rivne region that killed one man.

According to Russian news outlets reporting the Ministry of DDefense its forces collided with a cargo vessel deployed by Ukrainian forces in the Black Sea. Meanwhile, Russia shot down the majority of the 613 drones launched at Moscow overnight, in a significant attack on the Russian city, according to state news agency TASS.
