Trump Claims That The US will Eventually Need to Give Iran The Hammer

DUBUQUE, Iowa – U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday repeated his threat of military strikes on Iran, saying Washington may eventually have to “give them the hammer,” as Tehran warned any current conflict might endure longer than the previous round of warfare.

Trump said he refrained from further assaults since he wanted to minimise further casualties. Speaking at a campaign rally in Iowa on Sunday, a day before the US midterm elections, The only reason I’m not done with Iran is I want to be nice. I want to attempt to save all those lives if I can,” he said to supporters. “But at some point we’re going to have to give them the hammer.

Earlier, Trump told reporters that Washington still had “one or two” final targets in Iran to deal with, and suggested they might be struck within minutes. He called it Pickaxe Mountain, a probable underground nuclear facility.

The fresh comments come amid uncertainty regarding diplomatic efforts to avoid a continuation of the US-Israeli military operation against Iran, which began on Feb. 28. US media stated that on Saturday, Trump discussed the discussions with Tehran and the risk of an escalation of military operations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Axios claimed Netanyahu pushed for a swift strike after the U.S. midterm elections, while Trump wanted more time for diplomacy.
