In addition, it stated that Saudi citizens who want to visit the holy city must apply for a permit from the appropriate authorities and that those who do not obtain the required permits will not be allowed entry.
In another development on Friday, the General Directorate of Passports announced that it had started to issue electronic entry permits for Makkah workers, hoping to simplify the process for locals during the Hajj season.
Entry permit applicants will no longer need to physically visit passport offices thanks to the digital service, made possible by the Ministry of Interior’s online platforms Absher and Muqeem. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the organization said on Friday that it would provide guidelines for locals looking to get permission to enter Makkah before the Hajj season begins on Saturday.
