Testing by SASO Verifies the Absence of Hazardous Materials in the Products of a Chinese Company

According to the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), testing verifies that no hazardous materials are present in the items sold in Saudi Arabia by a Chinese manufacturer. “Direct coordination has been made with relevant government entities to address the parent company in response to media reports circulated in several countries regarding the association of products from a Chinese e-commerce company with diseases threatening consumer safety,” the SASO stated in a statement. It further noted that this was done to compel the parent company to take immediate action and remove all mentioned products as a precautionary measure, as well as to forbid them from appearing on e-commerce platforms or being sold to consumers in the Kingdom until their safety and lack of hazardous materials are guaranteed.

SASO stated that it has quickly removed some seventy random samples that were imported for use by customers in the Kingdom through e-commerce platforms as precautionary and regulatory actions. Three distinct shipping sources were used to deliver these samples. According to the results of the tests, the products did not contain any hazardous materials and did not contain more than what was allowed when making them, as disclosed by the SASO. It further stated that all laboratory results verified that these products fulfill the standards set forth in the accepted standard specifications.
