The Deputy Emir of Makkah Visits the Holy Sites to Make Sure the Infrastructure and Services are Ready for the Hajj

The deputy emir of Makkah, Prince Saud bin Mishal, visited a number of the Holy Sites on Sunday to make sure they were ready to accommodate pilgrims during the current Hajj season. During the tour, the deputy emir was accompanied by Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Bassami, the director of public security, as well as a number of other senior officials.

Prior to embarking on his journey, Prince Saud made sure the Mashair Train was prepared to carry pilgrims between the Holy Sites during the current Hajj season. He went over what was going on in the operations and control center, how ready it was to run trains and stations, and how the interactive screens offered information on crowd control and trial operations. The Hajj plan for this year intends to carry more than two million people throughout the course of seven days of actual operations with more than 2,000 journeys.

Additionally, he attended a briefing regarding the function of the Facilities Security Forces at Mashair Train stations and their initiatives to coordinate crowd control and pedestrian flow. In addition to managing crowd density and preventing traffic jams, the control room kept an eye on pedestrian traffic patterns to guarantee pilgrims’ safety as they entered the stations.
