A Gunshot Attack in Southern Israel Claimed One Life

JERUSALEM: A day before the first anniversary of the October 7 Hamas attack, police and emergency responders said that a shooting in Beer Sheva, southern Israel, left at least one person dead and ten others injured on Sunday. In a statement, emergency service provider Magen David Adom stated, “Paramedics have declared a 25-year-old female deceased and are evacuating 10 casualties.” The event is being investigated as a “suspected terrorist attack,” according to the police.

“A report regarding a suspected shooting incident at the central station in Beer Sheva was received at police headquarters a short while ago,” a police spokesman said in a statement. There are several injured people on the site. Numerous police units from the southern district are present at the spot, and the terrorist was neutralised there,” the statement continued.
The incident occurs just days after a shooting attack in Israel’s commercial centre of Tel Aviv last week that was claimed by Hamas and left seven people dead.
Iran fired approximately 200 missiles at Israel, causing hundreds of thousands of people to seek refuge in public shelters in one of the bloodiest attacks to hit the country since the October 7 Hamas attack in Tel Aviv.

According to an AFP count based on official Israeli data, Israel and Hamas have been at war in Gaza since the October 7 attack on Israel, which claimed 1,205 lives, the majority of them civilians. According to the health ministry of the Hamas-run enclave, Israel’s retaliatory military operation has killed at least 41,870 individuals in Gaza, most of them civilians. According to the UN, the numbers are accurate.
