RIYADH: According to Saudi Arabia’s meteorological authority, the Kingdom will have thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rain through Monday. “There are chances of moderate to heavy rain in most areas of the Kingdom starting Thursday,” the National Centre for Meteorology stated in its forecast. The weather will remain overcast till Monday. According to the NCM, rain is expected in the southern and northwest regions on Thursday and in the northern and southern regions on Friday.
It further stated that Saturday and Sunday would bring moderate to severe rain to the Saudi capital region. Heavy thunderstorms are predicted to persist until Monday, according to a weather warning issued by the General Directorate of Civil Defence for the majority of the Kingdom. According to the report, there could be moderate to severe rainfall, hailstorms, and winds that stir up dust in the Makkah and Riyadh regions.
Al-Baha, Asir, Jazan, the Eastern Region, Qassim, Hail, Al-Jouf, and the Northern Borders are also expected to have moderate to heavy rainfall. Madinah may see light to moderate rainfall. It also mentioned the possibility of light rain showers in Tabuk and Najran. All locals were advised by the Civil Defence to take the appropriate safety measures and stay away from valleys and other locations that are vulnerable to flash flooding. “Avoid deep valleys, water pools, and low-lying areas when it’s raining,” it said.
