Iran’s arming and assistance of the Houthis in Yemen, which they claimed constituted a dangerous pattern of escalation that risked damaging international trade and generating global instability, was called for by the G7 foreign ministers on Monday, according to the United Nations.
“We condemn in the strongest terms the unacceptable continued strikes carried out by the Houthis in Yemen and against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the ministers of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States said in a statement following a meeting that took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly that took place recently.
We condemn the Houthis for their attacks in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, and we demand that they immediately stop all military actions, as well as any threats or attacks against civilian vessels. We further demand that they return to the political process in good faith. Iran has been asked by the G7 foreign ministers to provide Houthis with weapons.
