The Ministry of Tourism has released comprehensive guidelines outlining who can apply, which countries are currently eligible, how much packages must cost, and how the application process operates in the wake of this week’s announcement of the pilot program. The program is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader plan to streamline international travel to boost tourism under Saudi Vision 2030.
What is a package visa for Saudi Arabia?
As part of an integrated tourism reservation, qualified travelers can obtain an electronic tourist visa using the Package Visa. Visitors can use an authorized travel agency to handle the entire process rather than booking flights, lodging, and a visa separately.
The Ministry of Tourism claims that the package consists of:
Tourist visa issued electronically
Verified round-trip tickets
Verified lodging
Insurance for travel
Activities and experiences that are optional for tourists
The Saudi Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al Khateeb, stated: “Package Visa reflects our commitment to making travel to Saudi more seamless for visitors as Saudi’s tourism sector continues to grow at a pace.” We are streamlining the visitor process and fostering a more cohesive travel experience by combining visa issuing with travel reservations. This initiative also supports Saudi Arabia’s position as an increasingly accessible global destination and strengthens collaboration across the tourism ecosystem.
What is the price?
The Ministry of Tourism claims that:
For the first two days combined, the tourism package must cost at least SR4,000 ($1,065) per adult.
The package value must increase by at least SR1,000 ($266) for each extra day.
The cost of the tourist visa, including the price for a health insurance coverage and the visa issuing charge, is SR402.21 ($107).
What are the requirements for the package?
The package must, at the very least, contain:
lodging at a hotel with a minimum four-star rating and a Ministry license
