Royal Reserve Plants Over 3,000 Seedlings in Jouf to Boost Green Cover

The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority has started an initiative to plant over 3,000 seedlings in its nursery located in Saudi Arabia’s Jouf region. The effort aligns with the authority’s mission to protect the environment and increase green spaces, supporting the Kingdom’s vision for a more sustainable future, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Volunteers from various educational institutions across the region joined the tree-planting campaign, which is part of the authority’s participation in the National Greening Season. To date, the Royal Reserve Authority has successfully planted nearly 4 million seedlings and restored about 750,000 hectares of degraded land. These large-scale restoration projects aim to revive ecosystems damaged by desertification and overgrazing, helping to boost natural vegetation and conserve the Kingdom’s biodiversity.

In parallel, the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification continues its planting programs. The Jouf region alone has seen the cultivation of 1 million seedlings for production. The program focuses on native plant species well adapted to Saudi Arabia’s desert climate, known for their grazing value, drought resistance, and ability to thrive in harsh conditions.
