Saudi Arabia will Hold an Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Art

JEDDAH: The Saudi Museums Commission will open the Saudi Arabian Museum of Contemporary Art at Jax in Diriyah with an exhibition of Chinese contemporary art titled “The Writings of Today Are a Promise for Tomorrow. This exhibition will feature the works of over 30 Chinese artists and explore the transformative nature of modern society through over 50 artworks.

According to a statement, the event will address a wide range of social and cultural issues, stressing the importance of writing in both Arabic and Chinese traditions. It will also discuss universal ideas like modernism, nostalgia, and recollections. One of the main topics is the importance of gardens in Chinese culture, along with a look at capital and commodification in modern Chinese society.

The exhibition, scheduled to run from the end of September to January, will feature a carefully chosen assortment of artworks, some of which have been loaned from private collections and others made especially for the Saudi Arabian exhibition. Large sculptures, immersive installations, films, paintings, and photographs are all available for visitors to interact with and provide a new angle on contemporary Chinese art.
