RIYADH: To commemorate the longstanding relationship between the two nations, the Saudi Press Agency said Friday that the Ministry of Culture in China has declared the start of a Saudi-Chinese Cultural Year for 2025. According to the SPA report, the year will include a number of activities aimed at enhancing both countries’ cultural environments. The Saudi Embassy and the Ministry of Culture collaborated to host a Founding Day celebration in Beijing last month.
With exhibits of traditional handicrafts and Arabic calligraphy, the event highlighted Saudi Arabia’s cultural legacy. Ahmed Mater, a well-known modern Saudi artist, is on display this year at the Visual Arts Commission of the ministry. The exhibition, called “Antenna,” will be the artist’s first significant solo exhibition in China and will be shown at the UCCA Edge in Shanghai from March 8 to July 8, 2025.
The exhibition, which includes more than a hundred pieces of art, provides a thorough overview of the artist’s body of work and charts his artistic development. One of the most well-known Saudi painters, Mater has made a substantial contribution to the Kingdom’s visual arts ecology and contemporary art scene.
