Soldiers are Reprimanded by the Israeli army for Burning the Lebanese Flag

JERUSALEM: In southern Lebanon, where they are engaged in combat with the militant Hezbollah group, the Israeli military accused a group of soldiers on Saturday of setting fire to a Lebanese flag.

Following a social media video that showed about six Israeli-uniformed individuals jumping and chanting a religious maxim while one of them burned the flag on fire with a lighter, the military released a statement.

Military spokesman Avichay Adraee stated, “We consider the act of some soldiers burning the Lebanese flag in southern Lebanon to be against orders, inconsistent with the values of the defense forces, and misaligned with the goals of our military activities in Lebanon.”

A purported video of a Hezbollah militant ripping a Lebanese flag from its pole and replacing it with the group’s banner was included.
Israel and Hezbollah have been at war since late September, when, despite the ongoing battle in Gaza, Israel shifted its priorities from combating Hamas in the Gaza Strip to safeguarding its northern border.

After its ally attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, which led to the Gaza war, Hezbollah launched low-intensity attacks on Israel in favor of Hamas.
