The Princess of Wales Cancels her Royal Ascot Engagement

As she continues to juggle the obligations of her public duties with the realities of her cancer recovery, the Princess of Wales has cancelled her intentions to attend Royal Ascot on Wednesday. Since announcing last autumn that she had finished chemotherapy and would resume her job, Kate, Prince William’s wife, has been progressively going back to her public duties. She stated at the time that she would “take each day as it comes” and that it would take a while for her to fully heal.

Members of the royal family attend the five-day Royal Ascot horse racing event, which is the focal point of Britain’s summer social season. Prince William was supposed to present race awards on Wednesday, so racegoers had hoped to meet Kate. William didn’t bring his wife.

Six months after disclosing she had an unidentified kind of cancer, 42-year-old Kate said on September 9 that she had finished her treatment.

The royal family’s capacity to maintain its hectic schedule of public appearances was strained when the revelation was made, six weeks after Buckingham Palace revealed King Charles III was also undergoing cancer treatment. Charles has resumed his public obligations as well.
