RIYADH: Iraq’s prime minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, met with Saudi senior tech diplomat Deemah AlYahya, secretary-general of the multilateral Digital Cooperation Organization, on Monday to discuss support for Baghdad’s plans to expand its artificial intelligence and digital business sectors.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, they talked about Iraq’s digital transformation plan and the necessity of building and educating a workforce with the technological know-how needed to support the country’s economic growth.
Despite not being a part of the DCO, an international organization that focuses on the digital economy, Iraq is eager to collaborate with it in order to meet the country’s demand for a workforce with the necessary skills in the business sector, according to Al-Sudani. Iraq has already made strides in investing in the human capital required to cultivate the digital skills necessary to propel growth in a digital economy, which AlYahya praised.
In order to boost the economy and assist the public and private sectors, Iraq has been working in recent years to create a digital transformation strategy. The first Digital Space Iraq Forum was held this month by authorities, with an emphasis on using cutting-edge technologies, like as artificial intelligence, to help develop a comprehensive digital economy.
