RIYADH: On Wednesday, the World Food Atlas will have a remote open meeting hosted by Saudi Arabia’s Culinary Arts Commission.
Those who are interested in talking about this Saudi initiative that UNESCO adopted to improve and preserve food production techniques and pass them on to future generations are welcome to attend the conference.
The discussion will cover many topics, such as an overview of the World Food Atlas and the programs of the Saudi Fund at UNESCO.
It will also discuss the relationship between the culinary arts and the five categories of cultural heritage, which served as the foundation for the atlas initiative, and the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
This meeting is part of a series of open discussions organized periodically by the commission, serving as a channel of communication through which to engage with the culinary arts community in the Kingdom.
The commission devised the initiative “The International Food Atlas and Digital Platform for Preserving, Promoting and Transmitting Foodways to Tomorrow’s Generations” last year. This effort aims to document and preserve cultural legacy to ensure that it is sustainably transmitted throughout generations.
