With a capacity of 45 passengers, the bus can go up to 635 kilometers on a single charge. As part of the intercity transportation services run by SATCO, a licensed business in the southern concession region, it will link the city of Dammam with the Al-Ahsa governorate, a distance of 359 kilometers per day.
Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih, the interim president of the Transport General Authority (TGA) and deputy minister of transportation and logistics, was present at the ceremony.
An instructional video that covered the operation of hydrogen buses, the fueling procedure, their safety regulations, and their role in lowering carbon emissions was shown to Prince Saud during the inauguration event.
Prince Saud underlined that the Kingdom’s first hydrogen-powered bus was launched in Al-Ahsa, marking a major milestone in the pursuit of Saudi Vision 2030, which prioritizes environmental sustainability and the advancement of eco-friendly technologies. He conveyed his happiness that Al-Ahsa is the beginning point for these innovative projects that enhance the quality of life and offer inhabitants and tourists of Al-Ahsa cutting-edge, safe, and modern transportation options.
