The Head of the Muslim World League Launches a Qur'an Competition in Guinea-Bissau

Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa receives the highest honour from President Umaro Sissoko Embalo for advancing religious diplomacy. Dr. Al-Issa emphasised the value of contests like the Tijan An Nour Qur’an in promoting memorisation of the Qur’an and strengthening players’ social duties. RIYADH: Under Guinea-Bissau’s sponsorship The Tijan An Nour Qur’an tournament was opened at the Lino Correia Stadium in Bissau by President Umaro Sissoko Embalo and Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League.

Embalo gave Al-Issa the nation’s highest honour for his work advancing worldwide cooperation and civilisational peace through religious diplomacy. Al-Issa emphasised the value of these contests in promoting memorisation of the Qur’an and strengthening participants’ social duties. The tournament, which has 20-part, 15-part, 10-part, and five-part memorisation divisions, is the most prestigious Qur’anic event in West Africa. Training sessions on Qur’an recitation, teacher and imam qualifications, and recitation correction are also included.
