AI Automation Shift: Companies Hire More Carefully

AI Automation Shift: Companies Hire More Carefully

Recently, many leading IT companies in India have cut jobs, mainly affecting mid-level employees. This is part of a global trend where tech firms are reorganising, moving resources, and shutting down units that are no longer important to their main goals. Experts say AI is changing the traditional job structure, replacing mass hiring with smaller, specialised teams that can deliver more profit. AI, automation, and cloud technology drive this shift.

Even with these changes, strong outsourcing demand from Europe has helped Indian IT firms keep their revenues growing. Europe is trying to reduce its dependence on the US by building its own tech strength. The UK, Ireland, and Benelux countries are focusing on generative AI, cloud, digital services, and cybersecurity. Europe makes up 25–30% of the market for India’s top IT firms, while the US accounts for 40–50%. As AI reshapes businesses, companies are focusing more on digital transformation and employee training, leading to more careful hiring.

In other sectors, India’s textile, gems, and jewellery industries may suffer from a 25% tariff. However, a Bilateral Trade Agreement with the US is being discussed. Pharmaceutical exports are safe, as the US relies heavily on India for affordable medical supplies.
