Saudi Coasts Witness Record Numbers of Seabirds and Large Marine Species

Seabirds and huge marine animals have been sighted in record numbers around the Kingdom’s coasts this year, according to a National Center for Wildlife report that was reported by the Saudi Press Agency. According to the NWC report, a total of 84,516 seabirds have been recorded. 34,160, or 63 species, were observed along the western coast of the Red Sea, and 50,356 along the eastern shore of the Arabian Gulf.

Five of the 39 important locations for bird migration and breeding that the NCW identified are formally designated by BirdLife International as vital areas for biodiversity, according to a report released by the SPA on Sunday. Additionally, 1,219 huge marine animals were sighted by the center, with 159 occurring on the east coast and 1,060 on the west.

The results represent a component of the NCW’s field monitoring and exploration initiatives in the coastal and marine habitats of the Kingdom.

In keeping with Saudi Vision 2030 and its objectives for sustainable development, the findings demonstrate Saudi Arabia’s continued dedication to safeguarding marine and coastal habitats and biodiversity,” the NCW said.
